@salutidamestre
Stop saying stupid stuff like:
"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."
Start saying:
"A free country doesn't track innocent citizens."
@Tutanota Exactly…
Oh, yeah, and wire it up with my justfile system.
tbh, I should probably stop using justfiles. The way mine are set up, they're barely more than shell functions wrapped up in makefile-like structure.
But... that's another project. I'll do the bare minimum for now, and will make it nicer later.
My suggestion: spare the time you would need to kick out debian, and use that to learn LaTeX 😎
That has never appealed :)
I tend to use markdown, and typst to convert that to beautiful documents.

@jemmesedi Meanwhile, on OSM... FIGHT!
I don't think humanity should work towards world peace, or personal immortality. I think those are a good start.
If we are the universe observing itself, then it is up to us to make it a universe that feels like home.
A universe where beauty is not accidental, love is not temporary, justice not a tool of oppression, consciousness not a brief flicker, suffering not the final note in the song of all things
a universe where the things that give life beauty and meaning are fundamental parts of reality and not things fragile creatures have to invent.
The transhumanists think too selfish, too colonial, and too small.
I don't want a future where humans live forever.
I want a future where entire ecosystems live forever, because the embodiments of the universe have rewritten the rules.
i think this shouldn't even be a controversial statement because in things that don't touch politics, it's treated as the norm
we complain when some program updates and changes its UI or functionality way more often than when it stays the same over the years
we get annoyed when tv channels or radio stations shift their genre, even if the reasons for doing so are entirely understandable
etc. etc.
@rnd Yeah, the word "conservative" means a completely different thing outside of politics (where it means pretty much the opposite).
My only nitpick would be that it's kind of a relative term -- like... most people embrace some changes while resisting others; how do we compare those, or even measure them?
That said, it's still fair to say "most people are conservative" in the sense of "most people will resist or reject a fairly large set of possible changes".

@Bonfire This doesn't sound like something I'd be able to set up myself though? This is an exciting idea but there's no way I could do that. How much of the tools are available for use for people with the technical chops? Is the code all there that did this or is a lot of it owned by Jacobin?
@crazyeddie@mastodon.social everthing is free and open source (AGPL) and available for others to use and to participate in co-designing what comes next: github.com/bonfire-networks/...
500 years ago, trans men and women were common enough in Portugal that they wrote plays about us, made comedies about us - compared Achilles to us.
Ancient Greece did the same thing.
We walked the streets alongside Shakespeare. We walked the walls of Ur. We were in London a thousand years before feminism even existed. The Indus River Valley civilization - Harappa - had 1500 years of peace, and all we know about them is they kept figurines of transgender people in their high places.
We do not remember them, but we are not separate from them.

Oggi siamo Davide contro Golia.
Basta.
